Villa perchée haut,
Îles d'Or dans le lointain,
Luxe du silence.
A new house designed to feel as though it had always been there.
The existing house, which had little architectural value and was in very poor condition, was completely demolished. From there, the project began with a simple idea: to rebuild without creating the feeling of something new, and to imagine a house deeply rooted in its landscape and in a certain Provençal tradition, while offering all the comfort and functionality of contemporary architecture.
This approach can be found in every detail. Reclaimed antique beams were used throughout, terracotta features prominently in the flooring, and the window frames were custom-made in a traditional style. At the same time, large pocket sliding doors disappear completely into the walls, dissolving the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
The project extended well beyond the house itself. The terrace was enlarged, the grounds completely restructured and the garden redesigned as an integral part of the architecture.
Outdoor furniture, antique pots sourced in Uzès, natural materials and planting all contribute to creating the impression of a place that has evolved slowly over time.A house that is contemporary in the way it is lived in, yet deliberately timeless in appearance.
